International Shipping Guide
ISPM 15 basics for shippers in Toronto and the GTA
ISPM 15 Standard
International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15) is a set of international guidelines designed to prevent the spread of pests and diseases through wood packaging materials used in international trade.
Heat Treatment Requirements
Under the heat treatment option, wood packaging materials must reach a minimum core temperature of 56 °C for at least 30 minutes. Pallets treated this way carry an HT stamp showing the treatment used.
Marking
Compliant pallets display the IPPC (International Plant Protection Convention) mark, which includes the country code, producer number, and treatment code (HT for heat treatment). Check that the mark is present and legible before a pallet is used for an international shipment.
Country-Specific Requirements
Different countries may have additional requirements beyond ISPM 15, and rules can change. Always check current regulations for your destination country before shipping.
